Profile of Mr. Tsuneo HASEGAWA and HASETSUNE CUP
Mr. Tsuneo HASEGAWA, born in 1947, was one of the top Alpine Climbers, who is well-known for the World’s first winter solo ascent of the “Great North Faces of the Alps” (Matterhorn in 1977, Eiger in 1978, Grandes Jorasses in 1979) and World’s first winter solo ascent of the South Face of Aconcagua in 1981. He lost his life by avalanche while he was climbing Ultar Peak in Pakistan on the 10th of October, 1991.
Mr. Hasegawa belonged to the Tokyo Mountaineering Federation (TMF). To
commemorate his work, TMF began to hold Japan Mountain Endurance Race or “HASETSUNE CUP” exactly one year after his death.
HASETSUNE CUP is now regarded as one of the top trail running races in Japan.

Entry Qualification
1. Entrants must be 18 years old or over on Oct. 9, 2023
2. Entrants are required to be physically fit and to run/walk the 71.5km course within
24 hour time limit.
3.As a condition of participation in the race, you need to carry a transmitter with ID issued by COCOHELI, membership search service.
Record
1. Race time is recorded by the runner's chips(tags) on your shoes. Put your tags to your shoes properly before the start.
2. Your time is recorded at the check points and the finish.
3. Tags must be returned when you finish or retire from the race. Do not take the tags with you after the race.
4. Do not lose the tags. They are not reissued during the race. You will need pay for them if you lose them.

Prize
・Individual Categories: (Male & Female)
-Hasegawa's Cup for the 1st place
-Medals for the 2nd to 6th places
-Award Certificates for the 1st to the 6th places for age categories of 10s, 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, and over 70
-Finisher’s Certificates for all finishers within 24 hours
・Team Categories:
One team is formed by 3 runners. The 6 highest rank teams are awarded.
・Runners who have completed the race 10 times in total are entitled to receive “Adventure Green” title and a medal. Qualified runners are requested to contact the Administration Office.
・The oldest and the youngest finisher will receive a Fighting Sprit Award.
Entry Fee
•General entry: JPY 22,000
•Members of the Tokyo Mountaineering Federation: JPY 20,000
•Entry through the Furusato Nozei donation program: JPY 30,000 or more is separately required as a donation.
Once paid, fee is non-refundable under any circumstances.
Part of fee will be contributed for environmental preservation activities in the race areas.
Number of Participants
Number of participants is 2,000 including entrants through the Furusato Nozei donation program.
Information Guide
Information guide for the race will be sent to participants around the beginning of October.
Rules & Regulations
1. This is a chip-timed race. Rankings are determined based on the finish time.
2. There are check points (CPs) with time limits. If you cannot pass each CP before the time limit, stop running and follow instructions of the official to go down the mountains.
Check points and time limit
*Preliminary check points: •Iriyama Toge, 3 hours after the start
•Daigomaru, 6 hours after the start
*First check point: Sengen Toge. Time limit: 9 hours after the start (at 22:00 on Oct. 8)
*Second check point: Tsukiyomi Daini Chushajo. Time limit: 15 hours after the start
(at 4:00 on Oct. 9)
*Third check point: Mitake San Nagao Daira. Time limit: 21 hours after the start
(at 10:00 on Oct. 9)
*Finish: Itsukaichi Kaikan. Time limit: 24hours after the start (at 13:00 on Oct. 9)
3. Aid station is only available at Tsukiyomi Daini Chushajo where you can receive 1.5L of water. (no food or first aid)
4. You are strongly recommended to carry at least 2L of water, food, rainwear, torches along with extra batteries, and outfits for cold weather in order to complete the race safely. Batteries should be alkali or lithium, not manganese. Lack of the equipment or ill equipment condition may cause an accident. You need to figure out what to bring with you.
5. Water is only available at the following four places;
*Aid station at Tsukiyomi Daini Chushajo: within 1.5L
*Ohtake Sanso: natural water
*Upper part of Ayahironotaki (1.5km before Mitake San): natural water
*Mitake Jinjya: natural water
6. You may use trekking poles, but only after passing the first check point (Sengen Toge). You should keep your poles attached to your backpack until you reach the first check point. (You are not allowed to run with your poles in your hand before reaching the first check point.)
7. Conditions for disqualification are;
to throw garbage away
to violate the rules and regulations
to neglect directions made by race staff
to get aid from anyone
to shortcut the course
to put your race bib on incorrectly or run without the bib
to miss check points within the time limits
to misrepresent the entry data or qualifications
to violate natural preservation
to act unfairly
8. If you drop out of the race, you must inform an official of your decision to withdraw.
9. Runners are not allowed to wear fancy costumes or dress-up.
10. Use of personal hearing devices such as headphones and earphones is prohibited.
Notice
1. Your participation will be rejected if you are late for the reception.
2. Please take your trash home with you.
3. Be sure to take your insurance card with you on the race day.
4. The organizer will call off the race in case of bad weather during the race.
5. First aid will be provided in case of accident during the race. Any other responsibilities will not be held by the organizer.
6. There is a toll parking lot in front of the Musashi Itsukaichi Station. Please note that an illegally parked car around the venue will be towed away.
7. The official may stop a runner who are judged not to be able to continue the race.
8. You need to leave your luggage in a specified area and keep your valuables by yourself.
The organizer is not responsible for loss of your belongings.
